Christchurch Earthquake

On the 22nd of February at 12:51 a second major earthquake happened in Christchurch. It was a 6.3 magnitude quake. It has been a devastating time for the people of Christchurch. Many have no homes to sleep in so they have to sleep in their cars or on the ground in sleeping bags. Some of the people's loved ones are still trapped under piles of rubbles. Rescuers are trying their best to try and get the people those people that are trapped out.

I feel so sorry for the people of Christchurch we are all trying our best to help them, by fundraising for Christchurch. We are all thinking of Christchurch because some of our families are there as well and we also feel so sorry for them.

GOD BLESS CHRISTCHURCH!!!!

Tamaki Technology

On Monday the 14 of February at 8:30 am the year 7’s and year 8’s went to Tamaki college for technology. There were Wood work, Food tech, Electronics,Science and Graphics. Wood work - Wood Work is when you make something out of wood like a truck or a car. Food Tech -Food Tech is when you make different kinds of dishes like chocolate brownies, at the end when you’ve finished making the dish you have to start cleaning your area that you worked in and then you have to write the recipe such as what ingredients and equipment you need to make the dish. Graphics - Graphics is when you create different kinds of objects like a spinning wheel, it is when you turn the wheel and then you will see some interesting facts.

The group that i was in was electronics. we didn’t actually do anything we just talked about safety rules and solved problems just so we know what electronics was all about. Our teacher’s name was Mr Malhortra he was a funny teacher he always made us laugh. After a while we got into groups and sat at our tables and then we discussed about what we want to make next week.

What I was thinking of making was a hat with a fan on top of it or a light on top of a hat so when it’s dark and I can’t see i can use the light from my hat to show where I am going. The fan on the hat was so when I am playing and I am to hot and I still want to keep playing and I don’t want to sit in the shade I can just turn the little switch on and then the motor will make the fan turn on.

“ATHLETICS"

On Wednesday the 1st of December some of the year 7’s from Pt England School went to the eastern zone athletics at Lloyd Elsmore Park for the intermediate inter zones. It was our first time going there because we just started our intermediate at the beginning of the year. The sport that I was in was long jump and Discus. It was hard for me because the other competitors in the long jump were quite good. It was very hard for me because I didn’t get to practice it. For Discus it was a little bit hard for me because, the discus was bigger then the school discus. I had done the discus and long jump and now was the relays. In the relays for the junior girls was April, Bobby Grace, Shontal and myself. First to run was April than Bobby Grace than Shontal last but not least was me. When Shontal approached me I started running full speed then she passed the baton and I ran all the way to the end. We managed to come second in the relays. It was tiring it felt like I was running non - stop. We were all happy of what we came in the relays. After a while we had to pack all our belongings and watch the rest of the relays and then we had to head back to school and tell them how well we done.

LIFE SAVING EDUCATION.

On Friday the 19th of November Rooms 19 and 20 went to Mairangi Bay for life saving education. We went to Mairangi Bay to learn about what to do when we are in the water or if something is happening in the water. We met 4 different life guards they were Rosey, Raquel, Megan and Bayley. First they introduced them selves. They talked about where they came from and what beach is theirs. After a few minutes they showed us around the place and where to go when we want to get changed. After they showed us around the place, they talked a little bit about the water and about when we are in the water we have to swim between the flags. They said if we don’t swim between the flags what are the chances of a life guard or someone saving you, she also told us about the inflatable rescue boat.Soon it was morning tea, after we had morning tea we had to come in and Rosey one of the life guards talked to us about sun screen. We had to look for the expiry date,SPF and water resistance. It was now lunch time and we had to get changed straight after lunch time because we were going to go into the water soon.We now got to go into the water with tubes and with the boogie boards. We had 10 minutes left to have free time of swimming.I started getting cold so I decided to get changed. We soon had to go home but first we had to say a big thank you to the life guards. I had a great time that I want to have a day there again.
