Term 2 Highlights

This term has been very educational because we learn something new everyday. My highlights of this term was Taonga time, Soccer and Hip Hop.

My favourite subject that I most enjoyed this term was sports. What I liked about sports was soccer. Our coach was Mr Harris and he taught us how to play soccer properly, how to throw a ball in from the outside and how to kick the ball if we wanted to kick a short pass.

It was the day for us to play soccer. We were all so nervous when we got there. The teams we versed was Ellerslie, Churchill Park and Panmure district. They were very competitive but in the end it was a good game. We came second in our pool and were very proud of our place that we came.

Every Friday this term we get to do Taonga time. I’m with Ms Va’ afusuaga and we do sports, but when it it’s raining we play on rugger-land with our netbooks. Rugger-land is a website about sports. There is rugger-land maths, sports games, what’s in rugger’s room and heaps more. We also get to enter a competition about netball. We have to create a poster about netball, the judges get to

After school I go to my hip hop practices for glee. I like going to practices because I like learning new dance moves. Our dance technicians are kids from Tamaki College called Esther, Pa, Ma and Harmony. They are teaching us their bring it on dance and an S&M dance that they performed in one of our assemblies. The T.C students teach us difficult moves, so we have to practice and practice it until we get it right. I like hip hop because on the last week of school we get to perform to the whole school.

Tamaki Technology

Before 8:30am all the year 7 & 8 students assemble into the street to get ready for Tamaki tech. We strolled down to Tamaki College and went to our technology classes. There are 5 different technology classes: Science, Electronics, Graphics, Wood work and Food tech (my favourite).

I’m in Science and my teacher is Mr Duwan. He teaches us interesting things like what’s in our body, temperatures, different kinds of acids chemicals and much more. The topic I enjoyed the most was temperatures of melting ice.

Today we learned about temperatures for melting ice. The equipment we used was goggles, bunsen burner, thermometer, tripod, mat, stop watch, measuring cup, an ice cube and matches. We had to find out the temperature of the water every minute as it was sitting on the bunsen burner. We were trying to find out at what temperature ice melts.

I really enjoyed been in the Science class and I can’t wait to go to the other technology classes.

IF AN EARTH QUAKE HIT AUCKLAND THREE TIMES..WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

If an earth quake hit Auckland three times, would you move to another province or town?

If an earth quake hit Auckland I would not move to another place because this is my home town. I grew up here, a lot of people grew up here and they probably would not move either.

There are also some people that don’t have the money to move or have any family members that live somewhere else so they don’t have much of a choice but to stay in Auckland. Even if my house got crushed I still wouldn’t not move not even in a million years would I move to another place.

Cellphones

Do you know who invented cellphones? Well a man named Martin Cooper invented cellphones in 1973. His first type of phone that he invented was the Motorola.

We use cellphones to call, text, take photos, take videos, play games and surf the net . Today phones are very expensive and sometimes cheap. They cost between $50 - $1000 to buy one.

The first type of phone brand that was invented by Dr Martin Cooper was the Motorola then a lot more other brands came out such as Nokia, Samsung, Alcatel, L.G, Blackberry, Blueberry and Sony Ericcson.

For credit it is $20 for texting, calling, downloading and much more. To text you use keyboards or if it is touch screen you just touch the keyboards on the phone. Phones need Sim Cards and sometimes Memory cards because without a Sim Card you won’t be able to use the phone. Memory Cards are just so you can store more things in your phone like Music, Images, Ringtones and more.

IMMERSION ROTATION

Imagination With Mrs Lagitupu

This term our topic was Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger. In class we learned about Imagination. We played a Bus-stop activity where we had to rotate and go to different tables where there was a different question like, ‘What does the word imagination mean?’ Our answer was when you think and use your imagination to do something or to make something. Next we made a pet of our own by using our imagination. My pet was called Lighting and he could dance, sing and talk. His favourite food was chocolate and pineapple. That’s one of my favourite foods too.

We researched things that have changed in the past few years like cars, phones and lights. Innovation means to create a new method or product. We had to do a presentation with all the olden day things like phones and cars and we also had to put an image of what they are like now. The thing that I researched was the toilets. I had an image of a tarpolin and a little bucket as the toilet.

With Ms Tito we had to create our name in a creative way. We created our name using the Internet. We searched each letter of our name and when we finished we had to email it to Ms Tito. Ms T showed us a few example of creative names that her class done. I did my name by using the graffiti creator.

Discovery With Mrs Nua

In Mrs Nua’s class we had to create a surface that would protect our egg from cracking. The material or equipment that we got was 10 Straws, 8 Ice-block Sticks and 8 Rubber bands. The people that were in my group was Mui and Mauina. It took us a lot of thinking but we got there in the end. There was only one group whose egg didn’t crack. When it was finally our turn, we got really nervous that none of the people in my group wanted to drop the egg. We gave the egg to Paulitia to drop for us. When she dropped our egg, our egg cracked and the yolk rolled out like a person coming down through a slide.

My favourite topic was Discovery with Mrs Nua because we got to make a surface and drop an egg.

What Do I Like/Dislikes About My Friends....

Likes and Dislikes about my friends. My best friend is Mui. She is always there for me when I need her. There is just one little thing that I don’t like about Mui. Sometimes she ignores me when I talk to her but that’s ok she is still my best friend. I have other friends and they are Racheal, Tracey, Etta, Vaha, Mauina, Helen and Shaniah. They are fun to hang out with, they like to relax.

They don’t cause any drama they just like to play touch and play other cool things. They are really caring, when someone is sad or is feeling down they will cheer you up. The things that I dislike about them is nothing, I like everything about every one of them. Altogether there are nine of us and our favourite thing to do is play Touch and Held whenever we have time to play. We always home together and are all very close.
